Interior Ministry conducts inspection after attack on CSKA basketball player Shved

Moscow police carry out checks after attacking CSKA basketball club defender Alexei Shved as a result of which the athlete ended up in the hospital with a traumatic brain injury, said the official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry, Irina Volk.

According to the CSKA press service, the Shved suffered a thug attack on him on the evening of May 1 at the exit of one of the restaurants in Moscow. The 34-year-old basketball player suffered a serious head injury following a fall and was taken to hospital by an ambulance.

– Moscow police officers are checking by phone from a medical institution. According to reports, late last night on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street, the defender of the CSKA basketball team suffered a head injury in a dispute with unidentified people and was taken to one of the clinics. Currently, the police are establishing all the circumstances of the incident and the people involved in the incident. Based on the results of the check, a procedural decision will be made,” Volk told the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry.

On Monday, CSKA lost to Krasnodar Lokomotiv-Kuban (100:103) in the decisive seventh game of the ½ final series of the VTB United League playoffs and will play the game for third place. The Swede spent nearly 38 minutes on the floor, scored 22 points, made 5 rebounds and 13 assists.

The Swede is a four-time Russian champion with CSKA.
