Police arrest suspects in basketball player attack CSKA Alexei Shved . This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
On May 1, CSKA lost to Lokomotiv Kuban (100:103) in Game 7 of the United League semi-final playoff series and dropped out of the tournament. In the evening of the same day, unknown persons attacked Shved near one of the restaurants in Moscow, the player suffered head injuries with fractures of the bones of the skull and a contusion of the brain.
– In the shortest possible time, the Moscow police arrested suspects of intentionally causing serious bodily harm to the main player of the CSKA basketball team. Three men were in a car near a shopping center on the Pyatnitskoye highway. They have now been taken to the police station for investigation.
The criminal case was opened by the investigator of the Russian Department of Internal Affairs of the Presnensky district of Moscow for a crime within the meaning of the third part of article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. A preliminary investigation is underway, – said the official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry, Irina Volk.
CSKA previously reported that the basketball player was out of action for an indefinite period. He will not be able to take part in the team’s next matches in the series for third place in the VTB United League.
The Moscow police have already opened a criminal investigation, the attackers face up to 12 years in prison.
