The court chose a restraint measure for the second of the attackers over the basketball player CSKA Alexei Shved according to the press service of the Moscow prosecutor’s office.
The 20-year-old defendant, like another participant in the criminal case, was taken into custody until July 2, 2023. During the hearing, he insisted that the court choose another measure of constraint, unrelated to the deprivation of liberty.
On May 3, the Interior Ministry announced the arrest of three suspects in the Shved attack. According to them, the fight happened because of the athlete’s wife. A criminal case has been opened, the attackers risk up to 12 years in prison.
On May 1, CSKA lost to Lokomotiv-Kuban (100:103) in Game 7 of the VTB United League semi-final playoff series and ended the title fight. In the evening of the same day, unknown persons attacked Shved near one of the restaurants in Moscow, the player suffered head injuries with fractures of the bones of the skull and a contusion of the brain.
