The court has chosen a restraint measure for one of the basketball player’s attackers CSKA Alexei Shved in the form of detention until July 2, 2023. This is reported Press office Moscow Prosecutor’s Office.
During the hearing, the accused declared that he did not admit his guilt and opposed the choice of a coercive measure in the form of detention. He also asked the court to choose a different coercive measure, unrelated to the deprivation of liberty.
On May 3, the Interior Ministry announced the arrest of three suspects in the Shved attack. According to them, the fight happened because of the athlete’s wife. A criminal case has been opened, the attackers risk up to 12 years in prison.
On May 1, CSKA lost to Lokomotiv-Kuban (100:103) in Game 7 of the VTB United League semi-final playoff series and ended the title fight. In the evening of the same day, unknown persons attacked Shved near one of the restaurants in Moscow, the player suffered head injuries with fractures of the bones of the skull and a contusion of the brain.
