Toronto began looking for a new head coach after Nick Nurse left in late April.
Scariolo previously served as Toronto’s assistant coach from 2018 to 2021.
The Italian specialist could become the second European to hold the position of head coach of the NBA club. The first European-born coach to lead an NBA club was Serbian Igor Kokoshkov, who worked with Phoenix in the 2018/19 season.
