The participation of the Russian teams and their possible replacements in the 2022/23 Euroleague season will be the subject of the meeting of the executive board of shareholders of ECA (Euroleague Commercial Assets – the organizing company of the Euroleague and the Eurocup ) on June 16, reports Eurohoops.
Former President of Moscow CSKA Andrey Vatutin says the club has informed Euroleague shareholders of its intention to participate in the next tournament draw. In March, the Euroleague announced that CSKA, Zenit St. Petersburg and UNICS Kazan were excluded from the current draw due to the situation in Ukraine, their results were cancelled.
– As for the Russian clubs who played last season, Zenit and UNICS had one-year contracts, it is assumed that they will not play in the 2022/23 season. However, the case of CSKA is special. The Moscow side have expressed their intention to play next season and appear ready to move home fixtures in the Russian capital if necessary.
UNICS square and “Zenith” can take Spanish “Valencia” and Serbian “Partizan”.
