Monty Williams agrees with the NBADetroit Pistons about a six-year, $78.5 million deal, tweeted journalist Adrian Wojnarowski.
According to him, it is the biggest coaching contract in NBA history. The 51-year-old has led the Phoenix Suns since 2019, leaving in mid-May after losing 2-4 to the Denver Nuggets in the second-round playoff series.
Williams led Phoenix to the 2020/21 playoff finals and won the NBA Coach of the Year award in 2022. He also coached the New Orleans Pelicans.
In the 2022/23 season, Detroit failed to reach the playoffs.
