USSR national team Olympic champion Zurab Sakandelidze will become a new member of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Hall of Fame, according to FIBA’s official website.

This honor also went to two-time Olympic champion Katrina McClain, Games medalists Penny Taylor, Vlamir Marquez, World Cup medalists Amaya Valdemoro, Carlos Loisaga and China’s Yao Ming, who played in Houston for nine seasons. , the basketball player has participated in the NBA All-Star Games eight times.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on August 23 after the conclusion of the FIBA ​​Congress in Manila.

Sakandelidze died aged 58 in 2004. The basketball player won gold at the 1972 Olympics in Munich, he also became a bronze medalist at the 1968 Games, world champion and four-time European champion.
