The leadership of the prestigious basketball tournament punished teams from aggressor countries.
There are no Russian teams in the Euroleague Basketball season 2022/23. This decision was taken by the tournament leadership. In the official report, the reason was the war organized by the president of the aggressor country in Ukraine.
Instead Russian teams CSKA and Zenit, Valencia and Partizan, who received wild cards, will play in the main round of the tournament next season.
Note that the Spanish club will return to the Euroleague after a season at the Eurocup. And the Serbian will play in the tournament for the first time since the 2013/14 season.
Russian teams will also not play Eurocup basketball next season.
