Clubs were also excluded from the last draw of the tournament
Executive Board of Shareholders Euroleague decided to exclude Russian clubs (CSKA, Zenit and UNICS) from the tournament.
These clubs will not be able to play in the 2022/23 season due to the war that the Russian Federation unleashed on the territory of Ukraine. Note that the same teams were excluded from the last Euroleague draw.
The current champion of the Euroleague is the Turkish Anadolu Efes. In May, the team from Turkey won their second title in a row, defeating the Spanish Real.
Earlier, FIBA suspended all Russian teams and clubs from competitions under its auspices. Also, the International Basketball Federation rejected Russia’s application to host EuroBasket 2025.
Early on the morning of February 24, Russia launched rocket attacks on Ukrainian cities, and then launched a large-scale invasion. The war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine continues for the 113th day.
