General Director of Nizhny Novgorod Sergei Panov reviewed the VTB United League format for the upcoming season and also spoke about the situation at the club.
– Our situation is clear: the number of league games should be increased. The number was increased by two teams. And due to the second part of the tournament, the format that our teams are used to – two matches per week – will be maintained. We have a schedule. The number of games is around 32 games in regular season and playoffs. I think the championship will be interesting.
– What is Nizhny Novgorod’s situation with contract transfers?
– All positions are important to us, all players on the roster are important. We have players who have remained under contract, and now we are working to add players to positions that are still vacant.
– Now, probably, it will be difficult in terms of inviting legionnaires?
“That never happens. The more difficult it is, the more interesting it is. We will try to maintain a balance at the expense of price and quality and provide the world with a good battle-ready team, as it has always been the case. Coach? We still have a valid contract with the coach for next season,” Panov told reporters.
In the next season, 12 teams will participate in the league: Avtodor (Saratov), Astana (Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan), Yenisei (Krasnoyarsk), Zenit (St. Petersburg), Lokomotiv-Kuban (Krasnodar) , MBA (Moscow), Nizhny Novgorod (Nizhny Novgorod), PARMA (Perm), Samara (Samara), UNICS (Kazan), Tsmoki-Minsk (Minsk, Belarus), CSKA (Moscow).
