Former Chicago Bulls player Michael Jordan’s shoes sold at Goldin for $1.38 million, ESPN reports.
These Jordan shoes featured in Game 5 of the 1996/97 season finale against the Utah Jazz. The media reported that during this match, the basketball player felt unwell due to the flu, however, according to other reports, he was poisoned by pizza before the match. Jordan, despite his condition, scored 38 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had five assists.
After the game, he gave the shoes to ball boy Preston Truman, who brought him applesauce before games. In 2013, Truman sold a pair at auction for $104,000, a record at the time for a shoe worn at a sports game.
Previously, Jordan’s 1998 jersey, along with his shoes from Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals against Utah, sold for $10 million – an anonymous buyer bought the shoes for $2.2 million of dollars.
