Defender”Memphis Grizzlies Ja Morant has apologized to the club and supporters for the inappropriate behavior he displayed during the social media broadcast.
On Friday, the National Basketball Association (NBA) suspended Morant for 25 games. The reason for the suspension was an incident involving Morant, who demonstrated a gun on a social media show.
“I’ve had time to reflect and I understand how much pain I’ve caused. I want to apologize to the NBA, the Grizzlies, my teammates and the city of Memphis. To the people who hurt me given the opportunity to become a professional athlete and who supported me, I apologize for the hurt I have caused. To the children who look up to me, I apologize for not being a role model for you. I Promise I’ll get better. To all my sponsors, I’ll represent our brands better. And to all my fans: I’ll make it up to you, I promise.
I will spend the offseason and my suspension continuing to work on my mental health and my decision-making. I will also train to be ready when I can return to the field. I know my teammates are going to control themselves and I’m really sorry not to be with you at the start of the season. I hope you give me a chance to prove to you over time that I’m better than what I showed you,” Morant said as quoted by ESPN.
Morant has been with the Grizzlies since 2019, was a two-time NBA All-Star and was named 2020 Rookie of the Year.
