NBA suspends Memphis goalie Morant for 25 games

The National Basketball Association (NBA) suspended the American guardMemphis Grizzlies Ja Morant for 25 games, according to the NBA News Service on Twitter.

Ja Morant’s decision to reuse firearms on social media is alarming and confusing. Given his similar behavior in March, for which he has already been suspended eight games. Of particular concern is the possibility of other young people emulating Jah’s behavior.

Under the circumstances, we believe that a 25-game suspension is appropriate and clearly demonstrates that recklessness and

irresponsible behavior with weapons will not be tolerated. For Jah, basketball should take a back seat for now.

Before returning to play, he will have to develop and execute, in collaboration with the league, a program that directly

removes the circumstances that caused him to repeat this destructive behavior, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement.

In March, the NBA suspended Morant for eight games without pay for “conduct detrimental to the league.” The reason for the disqualification was an incident involving Morant, who demonstrated a firearm during a social media show. In May, it became known that the basketball player once again took out a gun in the frame.

Morant has been with the Grizzlies since 2019, was a two-time NBA All-Star and was named 2020 Rookie of the Year.
