Draft NBA 2023: I live pick Wembanyama and all the best

The NBA Draft was held at the Barclays Center in New York, with the selection of Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs being the highlight of the day.

The 2023 NBA Draft was held at the Barclays Center in New Yorkin the choice of Victor Wembanyama for San Antonio as the most relevant of the day. After months of uncertainty, the Frenchman will play on orders from a legendary technician like Gregg Popovich with some Spurs being the worst team in the West last season with a 22-60 record.

At 2.23 meters tall and at the age of 19, Wembanyama can score from three and from medium distance, he handles the ball with tremendous skill and speed for a player of his size, he moves with great agility and ease, he is extremely dangerous both in attack and defense. “This is fulfilling something I’ve dreamed about all my life”said the Frenchman after the Draft.

More than expected for Wemby, there is also to see who they choose the Charlotte Hornets at number two: the lucky ones were forward Brandon Miller, who led the three and Portland Trail Blazers point guard Scoot Henderson, which was also strong for the second spot in the draft.

Twins are two other important names Amen and Ausar Thompson, who became the first siblings in NBA history to be selected in the ‘top 10’ of a draft.

The Houston Rockets took Amen with the fourth pick and the Detroit Pistons selected his brother Ausar after the fifth pick to round out a magical night in the Thompson family.

The Draft’s top 10 completed it, in this order: Anthony Black (Orlando Magic), Bilal Coulibaly (Washington Wizards via Indiana Pacers after negotiating a trade), Jarace Walker (Indiana Pacers via Washington Wizards), Taylor Hendricks (Utah Jazz) and Cason Wallace (Oklahoma City Thunder via Dallas Mavericks).

What is NBA Draft 2023 and what is the format

This is the process that allows 30 NBA teams to acquire the rights of young players, whether they are from college (NCAA) or international basketball. It is, as a result, the organized entry route to the NBA for the best projects in the basketball world.

The event is divided into two rounds, both with 30 teams each. In Round 1, teams have five minutes to tell the league which player they will select. In the 2nd Round that time dropped to two minutes. If they exceed that limit, they lose the option (practically this has never happened in history).

This is the order of selection of the franchises:

  • Choose 1 to 14. For the first 14 selections, the so-called Lottery is conducted, which takes place in a separate event, months before the Draft. In it, the 14 teams that didn’t make the Playoffs the previous season are taken and the order is drawn, with the specification that the worst records are more likely to end up in the order, while usually the best ones record ends in the lowest positions. In 2021, the privilege went to the Detroit Pistons.
  • Choose 15 to 30. The 16 Playoff teams are picked and ordered directly by their Regular Season record, reversing the order. The 15th position goes to the one with the worst postseason record, 16th to the second-worst and so on until pick 30 is reached, in the hands of the one with the best record.
  • Choose 31 to 60. The 2nd Round is simpler: it is arranged in reverse to the Regular Phase notes, without any draw. The worst record is selected first, the second worst second, and so on.
