FBU previously invited the team from Slobozhansky to play in the Vysley league
The president Basketball Federation of Ukraine Mikhail Brodsky declared that he was ready to return the question of the participation of Prometheus V Super Leagueif the main team agrees to participate in championship of Ukraine. The FBU responded to an open letter from the Ukrainian national team players who called for Prometheus to be included in the Superleague.
“In the matter of the possible participation of BC Prometheus in the Super League, the FBU was guided solely by the rules of the regulations. Let me make it clear that BC Prometheus, who completely missed the previous basketball season in Ukraine, can be physically admitted to the Super League immediately, thanks to a single tool, and this is the adoption of a special decision by the Executive Committee of the FBU. It was for this reason that I put this issue to the vote, as a result, 3 members of the executive committee supported this decision, and 13 did not.”
“I think the key to this vote was not only the fact that Prometheus completely missed the difficult last military season in Ukraine, but also planned to play in the Super League this season with his backup team. The first team, like last season, will play in the Latvian-Estonian League and in the commercial 7Days EuroCup.”
This season, there was no talk of additional contributions. FBU signed a multilateral agreement two months ago with Prometheus and the federations of Latvia and Estonia on the participation of the club in the Latvian-Estonian League. The document has been sent to FIBA. We could not do this, but we respect the players of the team. No matter how painful it is for us in our principled position in the club basketball vertical, but we have come to terms with the participation of the team in the 7Days EuroCup solely because of the desire to support the Ukrainian players who so want to play there.
In turn, I strongly recommend BC Prometheus to take advantage of the proposal of the FBU executive committee and declare this season with its young team in the Major League. Thus, the club will have the opportunity to win the right to participate in the next season in the Superleague by fighting.
“In conclusion, I will make an offer to all those who signed this appeal and play for Prometheus, if you are ready to return to Ukraine and play in the Ukrainian championship, and not in other tournaments, I will again bring this issue to the meeting of the FBU Executive Committee. And now this will be a real male argument.”

Earlier, the FBU offered Prometheus to play in the Premier League in the 2023/24 season. Since the club from Slobozhansky missed last season, according to the regulations, the team could enter the lower division (the Major League).
Recall that the team of Ronen Ginzburg refused to participate in the Super League in the 2022/23 season due to disagreements with the FBU. Club president Vladimir Dubinsky said that the Federation demanded payment of a discriminatory entry fee ten times the standard fee. The FBU motivated a similar amount by the participation of Prometheus in the European Cup tournament “not under the auspices of FIBA.”
Prometheus ended the season by reaching the Eurocup semi-finals. Also, Ronen Ginzburg’s wards became the winners of the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League.
