“Odinok is not a star yet, but he is trying and improving. I think he should help UNICS” – Bogachev

Vladislav Odinokov is a promising player who, with due diligence, has a good future in basketball, the president tells UNICS Yevgeny Bogatchev.

Earlier on Monday, UNICS announced the signing of a one-season fixed-term contract. The small striker ended the 2022/23 league at a Kazan club on loan. The 23-year-old Russian moved from the MBA to UNICS in mid-January.

– Why did UNICS like Odinokov? It is important that it is a young Russian basketball player. He played with us last season. Vladislav has a good shot. For example, when we were playing in the Russian Cup, he scored long-range and two-point shots very well. Of course, this basketball player is progressing. We still have few Russians in the team: only four at the moment. So we have to take young players like him. Plus, probably, I can’t comment: he’s not a star yet. But Odinokov tries, I think he will help us. He should have a good future if he tries hard. You have to work and progress. There is a lot of competition in the team. Your entry into the starting five depends on how you show yourself in training and in the game,” Bogatchev told a correspondent.

Last season, in 12 VTB United League games for UNICS, Odinokov averaged just over 5 minutes on the pitch, scoring 2.2 points.
