The Euroleague has approved a change in the format of the second tournament in terms of status – the Eurocup, reports the press service of the organization.
Next season, six teams from each of the two groups will qualify for the playoffs, instead of eight: the first two will qualify directly for the quarter-finals; places third through sixth will be contested for qualification to the quarter-finals of the extra leg, the winner of the pair will be determined by the results of a match.
The quarter-finals will also consist of one game, and from the semi-finals, teams will play to two wins.
Tournament participants will be: Litkabelis (Lithuania), Aris (Greece), Besiktas (Turkey), Budućnost (Montenegro), Cedevita-Olympia (Slovenia), Trento (Italy), Gran Canaria (Spain), Hapoel (Tel Aviv, Israel ), Joventut (Spain), London Lions (England), Bourges (France), Paris (France), Prometheus (Ukraine), Ulm (Sweden), Shlensk (Poland), Turk Telecom (Turkey), Cluj (Romania), Venice (Italy), Hamburg (Germany) and Wolves (Lithuania).
