basketball club “Minsk” on the official website announced the extension of the contract with the head coach Rostislav Vergun.
The new agreement is for one year. For the 41-year-old specialist, next season will be the sixth as head coach of Minsk.
“I think our decision is clear given that we understand the difficult conditions we had to face last season. But we also see the dynamics of the growing sportsmanship of the Belarusian part of our team. This has been proven in the matches in which our guys played for the national team of Belarus, and we see that we have very good and promising basketball players with whom we still have to work,” said club president Yuri Shakola.
In the 2022/23 season, Minsk became champions of Belarus for the 15th time and won the national cup for the 14th time. In the second leg of the VTB United League, the club finished sixth in Group B and did not qualify for the playoffs.
