Two-time NBA MVP Jokic won’t be at World Cup – media

NBA Club Center Denver nuggets Nikola Jokic will not play for the Serbian national team in the next Basketball World Cup, according to Mozzart Sport.

Jokic told national team head coach Svetislav Pesic that he would miss the tournament due to accumulated fatigue after the season.

The Serbian was named the most valuable player (MVP) at the end of the NBA season for two consecutive years, in June the 28-year-old became the NBA champion and was named MVP of the last playoff series.

The World Cup will take place from August 25 to September 10 in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines. Serbia will face China, South Sudan and Puerto Rico in the group stage.
