The 2023/2024 NBB season will feature 19 teams, including Vasco and Botafogo, making their return to the league; see list of all teams
The New Basketball Brazil (NBB) will feature the largest number of participating teams in its entire history. The 2023/2024 season will be played by 19 teams, three more than the previous year: Vasco, Botafogo It is Mogi Basketball will make up the main sports league in the country. The previous record was 18 teams, in 2013.
It is worth mentioning that this upcoming season will also be the first without the endorsement of the Brazilian Basketball Confederation (CBB). In this scenario, the NBB, even though it is the country’s largest men’s competition in sport, loses its status as an official tournament. The league can still organize competitions, however, it will not serve as a ranking platform in international disputes, for example.
President of the National Basketball League (LNB), Rodrigo Franco Montorocelebrated the brand: “We will have a spectacular championship, the biggest in history, with 19 teams. The clubs that form the National Basketball League will provide high quality games to their fans, as well as a lot of visibility to their commercial partners”.
