Nearly $100,000 stolen from home of ex-NBA star

According to an incident report released by Atlanta police, the former NBA star Vince Carter become a victim of theft.

The burglary resulted in the theft of approximately $100,000 in cash from the athlete’s home.

Two pistols and more than $16,000 were later found near Carter’s home. One of the guns belongs to the basketball player himself. Carter, in a statement to police, said the money found was a small portion of $100,000 in cash he was keeping in a bag in his closet, The Globe and Mail reported.

At the time of the robbery, Carter’s wife and two children were in the house, all three hid in the closet when they heard a noise in the room. None of them were injured. The burglar has not yet been arrested.

In 2011, Carter became the 37th basketball player in NBA history to score 20,000 career points. In February 2017, he became the fifth NBA player to hit 2,000 three-pointers in his career. It is one of the top three in terms of number of games played in the NBA. NBA record holder for most seasons played (22) and the only player in NBA history to have been on the court for four decades.
