The FBU President thanked the team for their performance in pre-qualification, but was dissatisfied with the personnel issue
The president Basketball Federation of Ukraine Mikhail Brodsky commented on the performance of the Ukrainian men’s team in the pre-qualification of the Olympic Games-2024.
“I cannot but thank the guys who fought for Ukraine at the tournament in Istanbul. You are our pride. Unfortunately, the national teams of Turkey and Croatia could not pass. They were at full strength with their best players.”
“Our team fought honestly, but about our composition separately on Monday. To say that I am ashamed is not enough, it is a shame and desertion in wartime, when their peers die on the fronts for the freedom of our country. There are objectively injured, but there are other cases.”
Recall that the Ukrainian national basketball team lost to Croatia in the semi-finals of the Olympic pre-qualification and lost the chance to get through to OI-24.
At this tournament, our national team did not play in the optimal composition. So, in early August, the team lost injured players Sergei Pavlov and Anatoly Shundel. And even earlier, Issuf Sanon and Alexander Lipovy left the training camp.
