A statue honoring Kobe Bryant will be erected in front of the Lakers arena in Los Angeles

“Los Angeles Lakers” will erect a statue in honor of the five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant near his stadium, according to the basketball club’s website.

The statue unveiling ceremony will take place on February 8, 2024.

As you know, Kobe spent his entire 20-year NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers. Since coming to this city and joining the organization, he has felt at home here, playing in Los Angeles. It is a great honor for me that in the very center of the city, next to the place known as “The house that Kobe built”, we will open a statue so that his legacy will be glorified forever”, The club’s press service quotes widow Vanessa Bryant as saying.

In January 2020, the helicopter carrying Kobe Bryant crashed in Calabasas. His daughter Gianna, 13, and seven other people were also on board, no one survived.

Bryant was named MVP in 2008. As a member of Team USA, Kobe won the Olympics twice (2008, 2012). He also ranks fourth on the all-time scoring list in NBA history with 33,643 points.
