The Canadian basketball team beat the French team at the start of the World Cup

The Canadian team beat the French team in the first round of the group stage of the World Basketball Championship, which began Friday in Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines.

The Group D meeting, held in Jakarta, ended with a score of 95:65 (14:18, 29:22, 25:8, 27:17). Shay Gilges-Alexander scored a double-double for the Canadiens with 27 points and 13 rebounds. French defender Evan Fournier was the top scorer with 21 points.

In another match of the quartet, the Latvian team beat the Lebanese team – 109:70.
