Japan, after an intense last quarter, defeated Finland 98-88 at the Okinawa Arena. Thus, Finland was left with no chance of qualifying and the Japanese had to rely on themselves.
The great figure of the party was the naturalized Japanese Joshua Hawkinson. The man from Washington State University had a double-double of 28 points and 19 rebounds, for a total PIR of 44. Another fundamental, especially in the rise of the fourth period, was Yuki Kawamura. The point guard finished with 25 points and 9 assists, many of which went to Hiejima (17) and Tominaga (17).
In eliminated Finland, NBA player Lauri Markkanen had 27 points (10/21 TC) and 12 rebounds, but they weren’t used much.
