Athletistic/Basketball. France national team striker Nicolas Batum has expressed his thoughts on the team’s early withdrawal from participation in the 2023 World Cup after two opening matches.

“It’s of course a huge disappointment. We failed mentally and physically. Our opponents were very strong and our team didn’t show unity. This game is a symbol of what happened in those five or last six weeks.

We are a very good team and we have proven it in recent years. In light of what happened this summer, everyone should look at themselves from the outside: the coaches, the players, the association. We had to do without some players due to certain circumstances.

For me, it’s the last World Cup. I missed a few summer seasons, but I put everything I could into this national emblem. But when you lose some of your comrades… We’ve been building something together for years… We’ve failed, but many need to challenge themselves. I still have a year left in the France team. We need all the resources of Paris, the best conditions. I don’t care about politics, we need the best team in France. I missed my last World Cup and that really annoys me,” Batum said as quoted by L’Equipe.

Recall that the star of the France team Thomas Ertel was excluded from the World Cup because of the contract with the “Zénith”. Moreover, CSKA’s Amat M’Baya was also not included in the tournament bid.
