Lithuania closed the first stage with a perfect record

At the close of the group stage of the FIBA​​​​​​World Cup, Lithuania took first place in group D.

Group D of the World Cup already knows its two classifications; but it remained to be determined who would be the leader for the next phase of the tournament. In this context, Lithuania and Montenegro came unbeaten to close the first stage. The Lithuanians dominated from start to finish and took the match with a comfortable score of 91-71.

After a rough start between the two teams; those led by Kazys Maksvytis began to unstuck in the second set; following a dynamic that was maintained in the following two quarters. With the attractive rhythm of the game; a long rotation and great effectiveness near the basket, ended up celebrating the leadership of the group. Rokas Jokubaitis was the team figure, with 19 points. He was accompanied by Mindaugas Kuzminskas with 15 units; while Jonas Valanciunas assisted on 11 goals.

In Montenegro there were three players who finished scoring in double digits. Nikola Vucevic finished as the top scorer; with 19 points. Marko Simonovic and Kendrick Perry each contributed 13 units.

How the competition continues:

Both teams will be part of group J of the World Cup; where they will take the top spot in group C, which now consists of the United States (already classified), Greece and New Zealand (still with a chance of qualifying).
