Athletistic/Basketball. VTB United League President Sergey Kushchenko has announced that the FIBA World Championship 2026 among youth teams will be held in Perm.
“We have official confirmation from FIBA (International Basketball Federation – approx. Athletistic) that the World Youth Championship will be given to Russia. The international federation has given us permission and prior consent. The Youth World Championship in Perm at the new Arena in 2026. This is recorded in a letter to the President,” Kushchenko said.
Previously, the Euroleague management suspended Russian clubs from participating in the Euroleague and Eurocup in the 2022/2023 season. Given the extension of the disqualifications of the Russians, the decision to organize the World Junior Championship in Perm could be modified.
