The Women’s League already knows its competition format

The Association of Clubs has announced that the competition will consist of two tournaments, with classification in the Continental Leagues.

AdC’s Competition Department has confirmed the schedule for the 2023/24 Season of the Women’s League. As reported a few weeks ago, the competition will have two contests. The Opening will be divided into two conferences; while the Women’s League will have a single zone.

In the initial competition, the North Conference will again consist of Ameghino, Instituto, Montmartre, Olímpico, Quimsa and Riachuelo. On the south side, we can see Berazategui, Ferro, Obras Basket, Rocamora and Unión Florida. The Regular Phase begins on September 21 and ends on November 12, with roundtrip matches within the respective conferences. From there the teams will be directly classified; while others have to participate in a play-in. The Playoffs will be a 3 game series (1-2 format) with a best place advantage. Between December 15, 16 and 17, the Final 4 will take place at a yet-to-be-confirmed venue and before the summer recess.

The Women’s League

The start of the competition is scheduled for January 6, with 11 clubs sharing the zone and with round-trip matches. The 6 best teams of the Regular Phase will enter the postseason, the remaining teams will end their participation in the Season. The Final will be the best of 5 games with a 2-2-1 format.

The Apertura champion and the runner-up of the Women’s League will qualify for the 2024 South American Club League. The champion of the National Women’s League will take their place in the Women’s Basketball League Americas (WBLA).

By virtue of the agreement entered into with the Metropolitan Women’s Basketball Association (AFMB), the 4 places for the federation will be maintained. Therefore, for the 24/25 Season, the last team classified in the Women’s League during the 23/24 Season will lose its place, and may be replaced by the champion of the AFMB contest.

The first date will be played following the following schedule, considering that on those days Obras Basket will participate in WBLA 2023.
