The rivalry between the Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves had an emotional moment with the Black Mamba family.
The Los Angeles Dodgers celebrated Kobe Bryant at their Annual Lakers Night in MLS on Friday. Natalia Bryant, daughter of the legendary former player who passed away in February 2020, threw out the ceremonial first pitch to Mookie Betts. His father was given the same honor in the summer of 2000 after winning the first of five NBA championships with the Lakers. Vanessa (Kobe’s wife) and her sisters Bianka, 6 years old, and Capri, 4 years old, were also included in this tribute.
The emotional night began with the stadium announcer announcing at the top of his lungs “Time to play baseball!” Players from both teams lined up next to Natalia, who was in charge of throwing the first honorary pitch of the game. The recipient of this one was Mookie Betts; who had a very close friendship with Kobe. On more than one occasion he revealed that he leaned on the former player for advice at various times in his career.
Fans who purchased special tickets tonight received a black jersey with the Dodgers and number 8 on the front and Bryant and number 24 on the back, the numbers Bryant wore during his 20-year career in Los Angeles . The baseball team also presented a check for $100,000 to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a positive impact in sports for athletes in difficult situations.
The allure of the night
As soon as the game ended where the Atlanta Braves beat the Dodgers 6-3, there was a drone show to celebrate Kobe’s life. The images created examine some of the most important moments in the career of the player, who spent his professional years in Los Angeles, bringing honor to the historic city.
