Another defeat in the performance of Serbia, a dramatic denouement in group L
On 2023 FIBA World Championship the decisive matches of the main round took place. According to their results, all the participants of the 1/4 finals were finally determined.
In Group I, the European teams triumphed. Italy and Serbia outplayed Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, respectively. For the Serbian team, this is the third devastating victory in the tournament – it had previously beaten China and North Sudan with a big score.
The United States unexpectedly lost to Lithuania in the duel of the leaders of group J. In quartet K, Germany and Slovenia competed for first place. The Germans took over, and in the local duel of leaders Dennis Schroeder (24 points + 10 assists) turned out to be more productive than Luka Doncic (23 + 6).
The denouement in Group L turned out to be dramatic. Canada, losing -12 to Spain before the last quarter, managed to pull out the victory and leave the reigning European and world champions out of the playoffs.
The quarter-final matches will take place on 5 and 6 September.
