At the 2023 World Championship in men’s teams, the decisive phase of the tournament has begun.
The national teams of Serbia and the United States became the first semi-finalists of the World Basketball Championship among men’s teams taking place today in the Philippines.
The Serbs did not leave a chance for the Lithuanian team, which previously defeated the main favorite of the tournament – the United States. However, the Lithuanians could not overcome the opponent’s strong defense, playing on equal terms only in the first and last quarters.
87:68 – in favor of the Serbian national team and in the semi-finals, the wards of Svetislav Pesic will meet the winner of the Canada-Slovenia pair.
Lithuania – Serbia – 68:87 (25:24, 13:25, 17:24, 13:14)
The second semi-finalist of the tournament predictably became the US team. After the defeat from Lithuania, the Americans entered the conflict with Italy who concentrated too much and simply destroyed their rivals.
After the first quarter they won +10, +22 – after the second. The favorites calmed down only then, at the end of the third segment, they brought their advantage to an insane 78:39 in their favor. When it became clear that the Europeans were not going to win back, the teams calmly ended the match. 100:63 – and in the semi-finals the US team will play the winner of the Germany-Latvia pair.
Italy – USA – 63:100 (14:24, 10:22, 20:37, 19:17)
Remember, earlier it was found out that the basketball player has no kidney due to a blow from an opponent in the 2023 World Cup.
