The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has extended the term of office of the head of the Russian Basketball Federation (RBF) Andrei Kirilenko in the Central Council of the organization, the FIBA press service reports.
The decision was made on Saturday (September 9) during a FIBA Central Council meeting in Manila. It should be noted separately that it will come into force only after agreement with the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
In September 2019, Kirilenko headed the 3×3 Basketball Commission within the FIBA Central Council.
The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) previously suspended the Russian and Belarusian national teams from participation in competitions under the auspices of the organization. The ban on participation also applies at club level.
