The suspension of Russian national teams and clubs from participation in competitions under the auspices of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) will remain in force at least until the executive committee on November 27, follows from the press release of the Central Council of FIBA.
The Central Council meeting was held on September 9 in Manila.
“The Central Council has extended the current status quo regarding the situation in Ukraine until the next Executive Committee meeting on November 27,” reads a message on the FIBA website.
The release said the hosts of four FIBA qualifying tournaments for the 2024 Olympics will also be named in late November.
FIBA previously suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus from participation in competitions under the auspices of the organization. The ban on participation also applies at club level.
