Construction of the main basketball center of the Russian Basketball Federation (RFB) in Vnukovo will begin at the end of September and will last about two years, the head of the organization told . Andrei Kirilenko.
The building will become the largest training center for Russian national basketball teams and the venue for Russian championships, championships, cups and other official competitions, as well as international sporting events (including 3×3 basketball). Previously, the project was expected to be completed until 2025.
— Our flagship center will be built in Vnukovo, it will become the headquarters of the national teams. Three more regional centers will appear in Kaliningrad, Arkhangelsk and Chelyabinsk. The other day I was in Khabarovsk and we reached an agreement on the construction of a Far Eastern center in the region. But if with Khabarovsk everything is still at the stage of agreements, then four centers are preparing for construction. The flagship center will appear, I think, in two years: we have passed the examination stages and already at the end of September, basically, we will dig for the first time with a shovel, ”Kirilenko told the correspondent. on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.
— We have three main points at the EEF. In addition to these centers, there are two projects that we present here. These are the “Silent Basketball” program and “Mini Basketball” for our youngest participants. At the forum, we would like to talk in more detail about these projects and attract the attention of potential partners. We want to extend these projects to the regions so that there are as many participants as possible. The same “mini-basket” goes further south – Anapa, Yeisk. We want events under this program to take place in the Far East, Siberia and the Urals. “Silent Basketball” is a wonderful inclusive project. I am sure that for many partners this can be a serious help in the implementation of social programs and a kind of inspiration and motivation for employees of their companies,” Kirilenko added.
