Germany became the world champion!

In an epic final, Germany were better in the second half and ended up lifting the cup. The Germans, led by the duo of Dennis Schröder and Franz Wagner, won the game with a tight score of 83 to 77. In this way they became the seventh nation to lift the trophy.

The rivalry began as one might suppose in an instance of this nature. Overcoming initial nerves; bad news came for Serbia. In one of the first offensives of the game; Ognjen Dobric fell badly and had to leave the playing field with the help of two people, without being able to support his leg. Despite this, the Balkans relied on their team play to try to recover from the absences. Germany opted for individual play, taking advantage of one-on-one advantages. With Dennis Schröder and Franz Wagner commanding the actions, they faced the rival offensive block. The fact is that both teams exchanged leads on the scoreboard, leaving the story completely equal (47-47) at the end of the first half.

Already in the second half, the legs of the Serbian team are not the same. Speed dropped, effectiveness dropped dramatically and the Germans made them pay. After a few minutes of not being able to find the basket, those led by Gordon Herbert began to take advantage to escape to twelve (69-57). Strange, with Bogdan Bogdanović on the bench (he came in with 2 minutes left), Germany keep the distance in the last set; Serbia defends with the same intensity, but it is difficult for them on the other side of the field. Aleksa Avramovic put the team on his shoulders and brought them within three (78-75) with 1:21 left. At that time the nerves showed themselves more clearly. Serbia could only score from the free kick line and lost important balls. In important moments, Germany did not fail and established itself in the World Cup, undefeated.

Three players finished in double figures on the championship team. Dennis Schröder was the top scorer with 28 points; with 7/11 in doubles and 2/6 in triples. He also had 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
