NBA wants to increase fines to $1 million for clubs that violate star player rest rules – media

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has recommended strengthening rules regarding “load sharing,” reports ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski.

Arrangements for remaining star players in nationally televised games and in all games where two stars miss a game will change.

As The Athletic insider Shams Charania points out, the team will now no longer be able to rest two “star players” at the same time. The definition of “star player” includes participants in the All-Star Game of the last three years or basketball players who appeared in the symbolic five of the NBA season during the last three seasons.

Under the new rules, the team will be fined $100,000 for the first offense, $250,000 for the second offense and $1 million for each subsequent offense.
