Athletistic/Basketball. Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving could leave the team in the fall of 2022.

Irving took advantage of the option to extend his expiring contract with the club for a year, but Nets management was unhappy to have learned of the decision from the media, not the player personally. Kyrie will become a free agent next summer if he doesn’t renew his contract by June 30, 2023, but if he delays, Brooklyn will settle for a trade option in the fall.

During the 2021/2022 NBA regular season, Irving played 29 games. He averaged 27.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. Kyrie also played in an NBA play-in game where he recorded 34 points, 3 rebounds and 12 assists. In four NBA playoff games, the basketball player scored 21.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists.

The Brooklyn Nets were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, losing 4-0 to the Boston Celtics in the series.
