The Women’s Basketball Pre-Olympic had another of its venues defined this Tuesday, 20th; see how the competition will work
The proximity to the start of the next Olympics, which will take place in 2024, in Paris, means that the decision of the countries that will participate in each modality needs to be decided quickly. Thus, FIBA (International Basketball Federation) announced this Wednesday, 20th, the city of Belém as the venue for the Women’s Pre-Olympic of the sport.
About two weeks ago, the entity had done the same, choosing Rio de Janeiro as the chosen location, but this did not end up happening. It turns out that the CBB (Brazilian Basketball Confederation) ended up preferring Belém over the southeastern city, for some reasons of its own.

“For the first time in history, we will host such an important event so that our athletes can compete for a place in the Paris Olympics. We will all be together to show Belém, to show Pará, the Amazon and, above all, to put our athletes and women’s basketball at the heights”, stated the governor of the state of Pará.
In addition to the Brazilian city, Antwerp, in Belgium, Xi’an, in China and Sopron, in Hungary will also host the event. Each city represents a phase of the competition, where disputes in Brazil and China will put two places up for grabs each, while in the others there will be three places.
