Ukraine will play with the Georgians on July 1
Head coach of the Ukrainian national team Ainars Bagatskis shared his expectations from the match with Georgia in qualifying World Cup 2023.
“Thanks to the Latvian Basketball Federation, which supported us from the first days of the war. After the match with Spain in February, we came to Latvia, we were settled here, fed for the first time. We are very grateful for this,” said Bagatskis.
“Georgia, in my opinion, is a smart team that will take everything you let it. Our job is not to let her do anything.”
“Svyatoslav Mikhailyuk? He will spend only four training sessions with us. Let’s see”.
“We really need the support of both Ukrainians and Latvians. I wish there was a sixth player in the stands who would drive us forward. We chose Riga as our home arena for a reason. The Latvian spectator has not been spoiled by such rivals lately. Yes, the Latvian national team is playing well, but opponents like Georgia and Spain are top-notch teams.”
Ukraine and Georgia will play on Friday, July 1, in Riga. The match starts at 19:00 Kyiv time.
Ukrainians are preparing for the match with Georgia as part of 14 basketball players. On the eve left the location of the national team defender Alexander Mishula.
