Magic Johnsonicon NBAcompared to Stephen Curryof Golden State Warriors and established who was the most relevant point guard in the league’s history. The number 30 of the San Francisco team had sparked the debate when he declared himself worthy of the “title”. However, the idol of Los Angeles Lakers decided to respond to his position, in an interview with “CBS Sports”.

“Well, do the numbers say that? So if he got more than five championships, if he got more than three Finals MVPs and three league MVPs, then he’s the greatest. If he’s No. 1 in all-time assists in the Finals, No. 2 in all-time double-doubles, No. 1 in all-time triple-doubles in the NBA Playoffs, No. 4 in all-time steals in the playoffs, if he achieved more than these numbers, he is the best”he joked, referring to himself.

Johnson’s impact is truly commendable in the NBA, especially for the Lakers. The former point guard led the Los Angeles franchise to win the championship in his debut year and won five titles in his first nine seasons. He was also part of the “Showtime”which revolutionized the team’s image in the league.

THE BEGINNING OF THE CONTROVERSY

In August, Curry responded to “Gil Arenas Show” believed to be the greatest in the NBA at his position: “Yes [, me considero]. Me and Magic [Johnson], is this the conversation? Obviously, I have to answer this way… Magic’s resume is ‘ridiculous’. So the fact that we’re having this conversation is the place I never thought I’d be.”. The ‘Child’s Play’ also highlighted that he aims to achieve achievements close to those of the former player, and that this will happen in the future.
