In a preview of the meeting between Quimsa and Zárate to be broadcast by TyC Sports, the coaches discussed what is to come for the season
Leandro Ramella and Manuel Anglese, coaches of Quimsa (National League champion) and Zárate Basket (Argentine League champion), spoke ahead of the match that will start the season. Tonight, from 9:10 pm, these teams will face off at the Ciudad de Santiago del Estero Stadium and the match can be followed on the TyC Sports screen.
Leandro Ramella
The coach of the last National League champion spoke about the expectations for this season: “we have the responsibility to continue being the protagonist and it will not be easy,” he declared. He also commented that “it’s going to be a very long league, we have to be patient and not lose focus, try to be ready for all the games and go out and play them.”
Regarding the team, he made a comparison with last season, where “we have a lot of players who can score easily, while this year we need more collective play.” To this he added: “We need to be a more solid defensive team than last year and we have players like that. We need to try to run the court more to get shots with a higher percentage and have offensive patience, a lot of passing the ball to get a better shot.
To conclude, he first defined tonight’s match: “today we are debuting against a team that will be very difficult for us, which has recently been promoted and has a lot of desire and energy. For me, we will face many times this situation and we must be ready, because if not, they will surprise us,” and then he expressed himself about the level of the coming season. “It will be a very difficult contest, because I think there is at least 7 teams together to be champions,” he concluded.
Manuel Anglese
The technical director of Zárate, champion of the last season of the Argentine League, also spoke about what is to come. “We won a place and now we have to defend it with work and humility,” Angelese said. Here he added a comment about their feelings: “We are fine, very identified with the city. I think the team has achieved a very good empathy with the people, who come to the field to support them.
Regarding the game itself, the coach expressed something similar to Ramella, because he said that “our basis is to raise the defensive identity and does not depend on any of our pieces, but on the collective work.”
In addition, he specified how he will adapt to this new challenge, “the coach molds a philosophy, a way of working, tournament by tournament. I look season by season beyond the category in which I have to work, to be a little better,” Anglese concluded.
