Greek star of the Wisconsin franchise defines whether or not he will sign a contract extension in the 23/24 season and reveals his future within the team, in which he has already won a ring
Big star Milwaukee Bucksthe Greek Giannis Antetokounmpo decided to be honest about plans for his future within the franchise. The winger stated that he does not intend to sign his contract renewal with the team this season, as it does not make financial sense.
The player’s permanence in the franchise came into doubt in the last few months of ‘offseason’, when the Greek gave interviews stating that he expected certain types of movements from the Bucks to be able to fight for the title again. The answer came when Damian Lillard arrived, but Giannis once again made clear the importance of having a competitive team.
“I always need to see what is best for me and my family. But at the end of the day, I want to be with the Milwaukee Bucks for the rest of my career, as long as we keep winning. It’s that simple. It doesn’t make sense for me to sign (the renewal) this year”said the player.
Giannis still has two years left on his contract with the team, in addition to the option to renew his current contract for another season. The player signed an extension for the maximum value in 2020. If he signs a new contract, he will be able to sign a new contract for the maximum value allowed by the NBA. “I hope the team can have a good season, win the title. Everyone will be happy and can be served next year. So, I hope the offer is on the table and maybe I can accept it.”he completed.
