Baskonia 77 – Real Madrid 79
A brave and long-suffering victory for the meringues in their return to continental competition. Those in white need to revalidate their championship. The match was split, Baskonia had moments where it was in control of the scoreboard, but a final quarter dominated by Real Madrid saw them lose the match.
Guerschon Yabusele was the standout in the Madrid team, adding 18 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block. Facundo Campazzo also had minutes, he played 23 minutes and had 2 points, 1 rebound, 5 assists and 1 steal to contribute to Chus Mateo’s leadership.
In the Basque team, the best performer was Chima Moneke, who scored 13 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block.
