Lane: The goal of the new season is to fight for the title. We have enough strength for this

The Ukrainian will continue to play in the NBA for the Sacramento Kings

Ukrainian center Sacramento Kings Alexey Len commented on the upcoming start of the NBA season.

“The team is well-matched, the composition has hardly changed, the coaching staff has remained the same. I believe that this season we will gain momentum much faster than a year ago.”

“Last season I was not pleased to sit on the bench. Every player has an ego. It’s not easy when someone doesn’t play very well, but you’re still watching the match from the sidelines. But I concentrated on daily training, continued to work, and did additional throwing exercises. The coaching staff helped me stay focused. They told me I had to wait. The chance may or may not come, but you always have to be prepared.”

“Mike Brown came up to me 5 games before the end of the regular season and asked: “Are you ready?” I replied that I needed a few games to get into the rhythm of the game and feel my legs. He said that I would have these 5 matches and I should get in shape before the playoffs start. I reacted with delight: “Finally it happened.” To be honest, I was surprised. Usually a team bets on a certain group of players in the first 50-60 games of the season and then doesn’t change anything. I didn’t get into the rotation, but I was ready to join it at any time, to provide insurance for my teammates in case of injuries and the like.”

“The main change from the previous season? I feel better communication with everyone on the team. Relationships and connection with partners are of paramount importance to me. We still have unfinished business from last season. I think we should have beaten Golden State in Game 7 of the first round of the playoffs. We will get through this stage if everyone shows a little progress this season.”

“The team is well-matched, everyone knows the strengths and weaknesses of their teammates. It will be easy to fit into the season. We understand what to expect from each other, we communicate and interact better on the floor.”

“The goal of the new season? The coach said everything clearly – fight for the title. I think that we have enough strength for this,” the Ukrainian concluded.

In July, Lane signed a new contract with the Sacramento Kings for one more season. It was reported that Lane would earn $3.2 million under the new contract.

The Ukrainian became a free agent after the Kings did not renew his previous agreement. Representatives from Sacramento successfully negotiated with Alexey.

Last season, Len made 26 appearances in the NBA. The center averaged 1.7 points and 2.3 rebounds. Just over half of the Ukrainian’s field goals were accurate (53.3%).

Sacramento finished the regular season in third place in the Western Conference. However, already in the first round of the playoffs, the Kings were eliminated, losing to Golden State with a series score of 3:4.

The new NBA season starts on the night of October 24-25.
