A sample from Filipino basketball player Justin Brownlee taken during the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, returned a positive result, according to the International Anti-Doping Control Agency (ITA) website.
A tetrahydrocannabinol metabolite was detected in a sample from a 35-year-old athlete. The Chinese Anti-Doping Agency was responsible for carrying out doping controls. The basketball player has been informed of the incident and has the right to request an analysis of the B sample. After this, the case will be brought before the Anti-Doping Chamber of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS ADD).
Jordanian national basketball player Sami Bzai is also suspected of violating anti-doping rules; a metabolite dehydrochlormethyltestosterone was found in his sample.
The Philippines team won the Asian Games basketball tournament by defeating the Jordan team in the final.
