Ukraine defeated Georgia and advanced to the second round of selection for the 2023 World Cup
Head coach of the Ukrainian national team Ainars Bagatskis commented on his team’s victory over Georgia (79:66) in the 2023 World Cup qualification.
Thanks to the victory over Georgia, Ukraine advanced ahead of schedule to the second round of selection, the matches of which will be held in August.
“We were nervous when we started the game because we knew the price of this match. The hardest thing was to find the game rhythm, do everything we had planned in defense, and not rush into decisions in attack,” said Bagatskis.
“In defense, we played better than in attack, because sometimes there were many unexpected decisions, thanks to which for a few moments it seemed that Georgia was back in the game. But timely correct decisions, desire, all this helped us achieve the most important thing – victory. And with this victory, we passed the first round of qualifying.”
In the next qualifying match, Ukraine will play against North Macedonia on the road (July 4).
