The European department of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has decided to postpone the upcoming FIBA Europe Cup and Women’s EuroCup matches involving Israeli teams until further notice, according to the website of FIBA.
“FIBA Europe, in close cooperation with the Israel Basketball Federation and the clubs, will continue to monitor the situation as the safety and well-being of all participants and stakeholders remains a priority.”
The dates and times of the rematches will be confirmed as soon as the situation allows, the press release indicates.
The situation in the Middle East worsened in early October, when the Palestinian group Hamas launched rocket attacks on Israel and invaded the country.
