“The level of his financial demands is higher than what our clubs are now ready to offer” – Eremin on the Swede’s departure for China

Honored coach of Russia Stanislav Eremin believes that one of the reasons for the basketball player’s departure Alexey Shved China has become a financial issue.

Earlier, Shved’s agent Obrad Fimich told that the basketball player was in the process of obtaining a work visa for China, where he plans to continue his career.

The 34-year-old Shved’s previous club was CSKA Moscow, which he left this summer.

— The Swede is a brilliant basketball player who is very popular with the public because he knows how to score and plays very impressively. In China, we are now trying to invite fairly high-level basketball players. Both European and American. Perhaps the sporting level there is lower than, for example, the Euroleague or the VTB United League, but the Chinese championship has enough high-quality players. I think the Swede won’t get lost there. I can only wish him good luck.

— Will his game be a highlight of the Chinese championship?

– He must answer this question himself. It all depends on his ability to show the game he showed in his best moments.

— Are you no longer sure that Alexei will be able to show the best game?

— Don’t forget that he’s no longer a 25-27 year old guy. In other words, he is no longer a player in his prime. And it is clear that the financial question is somewhere more important here than the sporting component. It is clear that the level of its financial demands is slightly higher than what our clubs are now prepared to offer. If he had chosen the sports component, he would probably have chosen another tournament,” Eremin told the correspondent.

The Swede is a bronze medalist at the 2012 Olympic Games, top scorer at EuroBasket 2017 and double top scorer in the Euroleague (2017/18, 2020/21).
